Life at Riverstone

Life at Riverstone

The farm is the experience.

At Riverstone, there is no agenda. Wake when you wake. Swim when the heat rises. Walk the farm paths as the light softens. The rhythm of the land becomes your rhythm—slow mornings, long lunches, evenings around the fire. The Boland landscape unfolds in every direction, inviting exploration or simply contemplation.

Farm Walks & Dams

Farm Walks & Dams

Follow the farm paths through orchards and vineyards, past the vegetable garden and down to the dam, where FamTin and CouplesPod sit on the water's edge. Long mornings of slow walking, and afternoons by the dam—just the sound of birds and the gentle ripple of water. The Mostertshoek Mountains form the backdrop in every direction.

Wine Routes & Cellar Doors

The Wolseley Valley sits at the crossroads of several wine routes. Tulbagh, just 20 minutes away, offers historic cellars and contemporary tasting rooms. The Hex River Valley and Ceres routes are equally close, each with their own character. Let us recommend our favourites—the small family estates where the winemaker might pour your tasting personally.

Mountain Hiking & Trail Running

Mountain Hiking & Trail Running

The Hex River Mountains rise dramatically to the east, their peaks often dusted with snow in winter. Trails range from gentle morning walks to full-day adventures through fynbos and protea fields. The Witzenberg range to the north offers equally spectacular routes.

Country Towns: Tulbagh & Ceres

Country Towns: Tulbagh & Ceres

Two of the Boland's most characterful towns sit within easy reach. Tulbagh, a 20-minute drive, is one of South Africa's oldest settlements—its Church Street is a near-perfect ribbon of Cape Dutch, Victorian, and Edwardian facades, painstakingly restored after the 1969 earthquake. Today it draws visitors for its cellar doors, antique shops, and slow Sunday lunches. Ceres, 30 minutes the other way, is the fruit basket of the Cape—orchards stretch to the foot of the Skurweberg, and the town keeps a working farm-town feel, with easy access to the snow-dusted passes in winter.

Bird Watching & Nature

Bird Watching & Nature

The farm and surrounding valley are home to a remarkable diversity of birdlife. Sunbirds flash through the garden, kingfishers hunt along the river, and raptors circle overhead. In the fynbos above the farm, look for sugarbirds and Cape rockjumpers.
